Beirut is the capital of Lebanon. It is located at the midpoint of Lebanon's coastline. It contains the country's largest seaport and airport. It was first mentioned in the ancient Egyptian Tell El-Amarna letters (1,500 BC). Beirut has been continuously inhabited since. After the civil war, Beirut underwent major reconstruction and is now back, full of life.
